Lady Bucs currently tied for 7th at Samford Intercollegiate
Monday, March 22, 2004 CALERA, Ala. (March 22, 2004) - Sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) continued her strong play of late in the first round of the Samford Intercollegiate Monday at the Timberline Golf Club. Finishing tied for 11th at 7-over, Barton helped the East Tennessee State University women's golf team to a seventh place finish heading into today's final round.The Lady Bucs (324), who finished the day 15 strokes back of first-place Jacksonville State (309), also got a solid effort from sophomore Laura Diaz (Aquadilla, P.R.), who finished the day tied for 18th at 10-over. Barton, Diaz and the rest of the field are trying to catch individual leader Brooke Mangan of UAB, who posted a 1-under round of 71 and holds a one-stroke edge over Jacksonville State's Florencia Moran. As for the rest of the Lady Bucs, sophomore Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada) is currently tied for 29th, while juniors Robin Downes (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia) are tied at 50th.
