Johnson City, Tenn. (Sept. 20, 2003) -- Playing in their first tournament since last year's runner-up finish at the Southern Conference Championships, the ETSU Buccaneers were crowned champions of the 2003 Milligan Fall Classic Saturday with a 6-1 victory over Tusculum in the championship game from Winged Deer Park in Johnson City. "I was extremely pleased with how we played this weekend," said head coach Amy Fuller. "It was a long weekend for our team, but I was proud of the way we didn't let up." The Buccaneers defeated UVA-Wise in their only game on Friday, then rolled to victories over Cumberland, Milligan, and Mars Hill before knocking off Tusculum in the tournament championship. ETSU will host its own fall tourney at Kiwanis Park in Johnson City on Saturday, Oct. 4. There will be more details to follow.
