JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 17, 2003) - East Tennessee State added to next season's recruiting class as infielder Greg Roberts (Douglas, Ga.) will transfer from South Georgia Community College to play for the Bucs beginning in 2004. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at ETSU. Roberts batted .303 last season with two home runs, 25 RBI and 10 stolen bases for the Tigers and was selected to the Georgia Junior College All-State Team. He was also an all-state pick in high school, as he batted .353 with 25 RBI and 19 stolen bases during his senior season at Coffee High School. "We are very pleased this outstanding ballplayer has decided to continue his education and baseball career at East Tennessee State," said Buccaneer head coach Tony Skole. "What attracted us to Greg was the fire and intensity with which he plays the game. He plays very fast and is very aggressive. Greg will provide a much-needed spark to our offense and was the top-rated defensive third baseman in all of the Georgia junior colleges."
