ETSU Men's Tennis Topples Tennessee Tech, 5-2

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 14, 2004) - The East Tennessee State men's tennis team won it's match 5-2 against Tennessee Tech Sunday afternoon in Johnson City, Tenn. With the win, the Bucs improve to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the SoCon, while the Athletics drop to 2-6 overall. "The guys played solid today," said head coach Yaser Zaatini. "This was pretty close to the best that we have played all season." ETSU swept in doubles action for the point. The Bucs were led by Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alejandro Salazar (Arequipa, Peru) in the No. 1 slot who defeated Marco Born and Luis Aguerrevere 8-6. At No. 2, Diego Iglesias (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and MoisÚs Serrano (Bucaramanga, Columbia) claimed an 8-6 win over Razvan Ilie and William Chappell. Fernando Fiuri (Villa Maria, Argentina) and Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) cleaned up in the No. 3 slot with an 8-2 win over Christoph Lerch and Dominik Hecht. In singles action the Bucs garnered wins from Posada at No. 2 (6-3, 6-4, Iglesias at No. 3 (6-4, 2-6, 6-4, Fiuri at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1), and Serrano at No. 5 (4-6, 6-1, 6-1). The Athletics earned wins in the No. 1 slot from Born in a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 battle against Salazar and at No. 6 from Hecht in a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Insaurralde.
