Volleyball Inks Two Recruits for 2004 Season

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 20, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University volleyball squad has added two recruits for the 2004 season, it was announced today. Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Co. / Rampart) and Katie Longden (Fort Dodge, Iowa / Iowa Central CC) have signed national letters of intent to compete with head coach Lindsay Devine for the upcoming fall season. A 5'11 middle hitter, Kiselich played for the Nike Thundercats club squad, a program that was a mainstay in the national top 30 rankings during the 2003 season. Callie was honored as an honorable mention member of the 2003 All-State squad while posting a .420 hitting percentage, 73 total blocks and 243 total kills. The daughter of D.J. Kiselich and Colette Nelson, Kiselich plans to major in nursing at ETSU. "Callie is a natural athlete who possesses a great lateral quickness and excellent blocking instincts. She will be an important offensive contributor and make an immediate impact to the ETSU program," Devine said. Longden, also a 5'11 middle hitter, was a two-year starter for Iowa Central Community College where she was a 2003 First Team All-Region member, as well as garnering 2002 All-Region Honorable Mention accolades. At Iowa Central, Longden tallied 228 total blocks, a .275 hitting percentage and 2.542 kills per game. Katie is the daughter of Gordon and P. Marlene Longden, and plans to major in sports medicine and physical therapy at ETSU. "Katie brings with her collegiate playing experience and an extremely competitive attitude. With her quick arm and excellent court sense and awareness, she will pose a strong threat for the ETSU offensive line," Devine had to say.
