Monday, November 17, 2003

Johnson City, Tenn. (Nov. 17, 2003) - East Tennessee State head volleyball coach Lindsey Devine announced Monday the inking of Michelle Mislan to a National Letter of Intent. Mislan, a 6-foot-1 outside/right side hitter from Indianapolis, Ind., was the first to sign with the Buccaneer volleyball program during the NCAA's early signing period that ends this week. Mislan lettered three years under head coach Kathy Nalley-Schembra at Roncalli High School. An Academic All-State honorable mention in 2003, Mislan hopes to continue her education at ETSU by earning a degree in Pre-Med. For the last three years Mislan had been instrumental in leading her squad against some of the top programs in the country at U.S. Nationals, including a ninth-place finish in 2002. The daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Mislan, Michelle was a junior all-star tryout in 2002, and competed for the Circle City Volleyball club. "Michelle comes to us from Circle City, which is one of the top club teams in the country," said Devine. "She's a very talented athlete and an intelligent person. A player like Michelle with her height and talent is going to add depth to our program."
