ETSU's Mayes Selected to SoCon Media All-Conference First Team

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (Mar. 2, 2004) - The Southern Conference announced today the 2004 women's basketball media all-conference teams and awards. ETSU's Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) was named to the first team. Mayes was also honored with SoCon all-conference honors by the women's basketball coaches. Mayes, a 6-foot-2 center, has helped the Lady Bucs to a 13-7 mark in the SoCon with a regular season 15.8 ppg scoring average which ranks her second in the category in the conference. She also is the league's leading rebounder at 9.2 boards per game, marking the eighth time an ETSU player has led the SoCon in rebounding average. The junior's 410 points thus far had nearly doubled her career total prior to this season, and she also posted career-best numbers in assists (42) and steals (40). Additionally, Mayes finished the regular season fifth in the conference in field goal percentage (50.9%), 10th in block shots (0.65 bpg.), and 14th in steals (1.54 spg.). Mayes was also named twice as the SoCon Player of the Week (Dec. 23 and Jan. 27).
