JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 13, 2004) -- The East Tennessee State women's basketball team will be attempting to win four straight games on the road for the first time since 1990-91 when the Lady Bucs take on Appalachian State this Saturday at the Holmes Center in Boone, N.C. ETSU (11-11, 11-5 SoCon), which sits in third place in the SoCon standings, begins a four-game road stretch to complete the 2003-04 regular-season. The Lady Bucs began the year 0-6 away from Johnson City, but have since won three straight on the road. The streak will be put to the test Saturday against an Appalachian State (5-17, 4-11 SoCon) team that will be looking for revenge. The Mountaineers came up short in a 65-64 loss to ETSU in Memorial Center earlier this season. Aisha Bryant's potential game-winning shot was blocked by Lauren Trantham (Asheville, N.C.), as the Lady Bucs walked away with their first victory over ASU in two and a half years. Saturday marks the 61st meeting between the two teams, making it one of the oldest rivalries in the Southern Conference. The Mountaineers hold a 32-28 all-time advantage, while ETSU head coach Karen Kemp is an even 10-10 versus Appy during her 10 seasons in Johnson City. Click here for game notes (PDF)
