JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 23, 2004) - East Tennessee State University cross country and track and field head coach David E. Walker announced today that Benard Towett (Nairobi, Kenya) will join the Buccaneer squad for the 2004-05 season. "I am extremely delighted to have Benard as a member of our team," said Walker. "He comes in with excellent running potential and has the opportunity to make an immediate impact with our cross country team. A distance runner, Towett is a two-year certificate winner in track and field and cross country and served as assistant captain for track and field. He ran as a member of Athletics Kenya and Kasso Kenya Athletics. Towett also played soccer and was captain of his soccer team. Towett is the third addition to the Buccaneer men's track and field and cross country rosters for the 2004-05 season. Walker commented, "Our team is developing a strong base with this year's recruiting class and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season."
