Alcohol Awareness Task Force To Sponsor Pair of Events

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (January 17, 2004 - The ETSU Departement of Intercollegiate Athletics' Alcohol Awareness Task Force is sponsoring a presentation for all Buccaneer student-athletes on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the D.P. Culp Center. In addition, the AATF will be sponsoring the Monday, Feb. 2 men's basketball game against UNC Greensboro. The presentation, which will be given by Woodridge Hospital Clinical Director Kim Cudebec, is a mandatory educational meeting for all student-athletes and will focus on responsibility, the problems associated with underage drinking, the importance of using designated drivers, and the impact of alcohol abuse on athletic performance. On Feb. 2, the AATF will use the men's basketball game to promote it's slogan of "Responsibility Matters." The game will be highlighted by a special AATF area on the East Concourse level of Memorial Center, on-court competitions that focus on the disabling affects alcohol abuse can have on one's body, as well as many giveaways and special prizes for fans and students.
