Davies fires 2-under 70, Bucs move up two spots at Carpet Capital Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Nov. 6, 2004) - East Tennessee State sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) fired a 2-under-par 70 Saturday, helping power the Buccaneers to a team score of 298 - seven strokes better than their score of 305 on Friday - and an eighth-place standing after two rounds of the Carpet Capital Collegiate at the Farm Golf Club.

 

Davies, who currently stands at even-par for the tournament, is tied for third on the individual leaderboard, and just two strokes back of leader Luke List of Vanderbilt. Meanwhile, on the team leaderboard, Georgia leads with a team score of 11-over-par 587, six strokes ahead of second-place Wake Forest and 16 strokes better than the Bucs.

 

Along with Davies, fellow sophomore Stephen Arnold (Langhorne, Pa.) posted a 1-under 71 on Saturday and is currently tied for 16th. Meanwhile, senior Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales) is tied for 50th, while freshmen Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) and Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) are tied for 67th and 71st, respectively.
