Davies competes at World Amateur Championships

RIO GRANDE, P.R. (Oct. 29, 2004) - East Tennessee State University sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) is in a seven-way tie for 19th after two rounds of the World Amateur Team Golf Championships from Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, P.R.

            Davies is at 2-under-par after shooting matching 71's in both the first and second rounds. Playing for Wales, Rhys is ten shots behind the tournament leader, Ryan Moore of the United States who is at 12-under. Nicolas Sultzer of Switzerland is in second at 8-under-par.

            Wales is in a three-way tie for third in the event with Switzerland and Sweden at 9-under-par. Davies' teammate Nigel Edwards is at 7-under through two rounds while the team's third member, Gareth Wright is at even-par. The United States leads at 20-under-par.

            The World Amateur Team Golf Championships continue tomorrow morning from the Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, P.R. Live scoring of the event is available at www.golfstat.com.
