Fox College Sports Central to air "Inside Buc Sports" nationally

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 31, 2005) The Mountain States Health Alliance Buccaneer Sports Network is pleased to announce that beginning this week, the television version of "Inside Buc Sports" will air nationwide on Thursdays at 6 p.m. on Fox College Sports Central.

 

FCS Atlantic, Central and Pacific - which reach a combined 40 million households - are all available nationwide to digital cable subscribers who have access through their cable company to Fox College Sports. FCS programming focuses solely on collegiate sports, and utilizes the many regional Fox networks to select the best live and taped programming to air nationally. "This is an exciting time for our network," said Jay Sandos, the radio "Voice of the Bucs" and director of the MSHA Buccaneer Sports Network. "Having the ability to reach into millions of homes in every major market throughout the country is really a testament to our network's growth in just two years. .           Inside Buc Sports is a weekly, news-magazine style show that seeks to keep ETSU fans informed about the latest news from all of the program's 16 varsity sports. With news segments, player profiles and coaches' interviews, Inside Buc Sports is a comprehensive, 30-minute trip around the world of Buccaneer athletics.

 

            The show, which is hosted by Sandos, Scott Lawson and Nick Roosa, is completely produced by the Mountain States Health Alliance Buccaneer Sports Network, in cooperation with the ETSU Division of Broadcasting. The network, which was started by the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and debuted in the fall of 2003, seeks to produce all of the athletic department's television and radio broadcasts, while providing an educational experience for ETSU broadcasting students.

 

            "For students at ETSU, the MSHA Buccaneer Sports Network now provides an invaluable experience with the chance to get their work in front of a national audience," said Michael White, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. "The educational component has, in many ways, become the most exciting and fulfilling aspect of the network. While the athletic department enjoys benefits through a quality radio and television network, the students enjoy a real world learning environment."

 

            Along with its nationwide audience, Inside Buc Sports can be seen locally on a weekly basis through both Charter and Comcast Cable in the Tri-Cities and Southwest Virginia. The show airs Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. on Charter Channel 13 and Comcast Cable 14 in the local area.
