            JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 21, 2005) - The East Tennessee State University women's golf team opened its 2005 spring season with a solid first round effort Monday at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic being played at the Dorado Del Mar Golf Course in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

 

            Behind freshman Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden), who posted a 2-over 74 and is currently tied for third on the individual leaderboard, the Lady Bucs are tied for seventh with Tulsa and Purdue. ETSU is currently 14 strokes back of front running Auburn on the team leaderboard, while Ringdahl is just three strokes back of California's Sofie Andersson for the top spot in the individual competition.

 

            Along with Ringdahl, other ETSU results included junior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) with a 78, tying her for 26th, while senior Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia) is currently tied for 38th. Lady Bucs' freshmen Cindy Phillips (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) are currently tied for 46nd and 72nd, respectively.
