Lady Bucs set program record, currently fourth at Taco Bell Intercollegiate

Monday, October 11, 2004

(Oct. 11, 2004) - Setting a program record for single-round score with a second round of 293 on Monday, the East Tennessee State University women's golf team is currently tied for fourth on the team leaderboard at the Taco Bell Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina at the Bradford Creek Golf Club.

The Lady Bucs are tied with Maryland at 20-over 596 and trail first-place Augusta State, which is currently at 8-over for the event and five strokes in front of second-place Coastal Carolina. Augusta State's Patti Hogeboom is currently leading the individual standings at 3-under, while ETSU's top performer was freshman Maria Ringdahl (Farjestaden, Sweden), who is currently tied for fourth after posting a career-best round of 1-under-par 71 during second-round play and finishing at even-par after two rounds.

"I think getting a second chance to look at the golf course on the same day helped us in the second round," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "Everyone on our team played better in the second round and that showed with five scores in the 70s. It was a good second round, but this is a tough tournament and tomorrow will be tough again."

Prior to Monday, the Lady Bucs' all-time best single round was a 299 at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate on Oct. 13, 2003. Along with Ringdahl, junior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) finished tied for 17th with a score of 77-72=149. Meanwhile, other ETSU efforts included freshman Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) finishing tied for 28th, senior Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, B.C.) placing tied for 37th, and junior Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario) finishing tied for 68th.

The Lady Bucs will wrap up third and final round play Tuesday morning. ETSU fans can watch up-to-the-minute scores live on golfstat.com.
