SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 28, 2005) - For the second straight year, ETSU junior Tim Smith (Newport News, Va.) has been named to the Coaches All-Southern Conference first team.

Smith, a 5-9 point guard, led the league in scoring this season, averaging 21.3 points per game, and he finished tied with UNC Greensboro's Kyle Hines as runner-up for the SoCon Player of the Year honor, which went to Davidson's Brendan Winters. Smith's second first-team selection goes on a mantle that already includes two SoCon Tournament MVP awards (2003 & 2004) and a SoCon Freshman of the Year honor (2002-03).

The Buccaneers will return to action on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament being played in Chattanooga. No. 5 seed ETSU will face No. 4 seed Furman in the McKenzie Arena on the UTC campus.
