JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.  (Oct. 30, 2004) - In front of a full crowd at Brooks Gymnasium today the Buccaneer men's basketball squad competed in the annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage with the Blue team taking the 79-70 win for the afternoon.  With Homecoming festivities, an all-star mascot game, promotional prizes and finishing the afternoon with an autograph session with the team, the excitement level for the upcoming 2004-2005 season continues to rise.

Head coach Murry Bartow and his staff split the ETSU men's basketball squad prior to today's game where the Blue team consisted of: Aaron Scott (Houma, La.), Chris Mitchell (Chicago, Ill.), Brad Nuckles (Council, Va.), point guard Tim Smith (Newport News, Va.), Travis Strong (Memphis, Tenn.), Greg Surmacz (Ontario, Canada) and coaches Bartow and Will Bailey.  Heading the Gold team for the afternoon were coaches Mike Boyd and Scott Wagers with Dillion Sneed (Chicago, Ill.), Ben Rhoda (Dayton, Ohio), Andrew Reed (Port Richey, Fla.), Sam Oatman (Neenah, Wis.) and James Anthony (Tampa, Fla.) taking the court for the Bucs.

"This scrimmage was a great opportunity for our players and staff to evaluate where we are at this point and we saw a lot of encouraging effort this afternoon," coach Bartow said.  "Tim (Smith) and James (Anthony) played very well and our inside guys made plays all afternoon.  We still have work to do before we open our season but we saw a lot of good things during our scrimmage today."
