JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (Sep. 2, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University women's softball squad will start the 2004-2005 season with a community service project at Girls Inc. this afternoon. The first of five installments with the organization this fall, the Lady Bucs will visit the center for an hour long activity session which will include teaching various aspects of softball and playing games with the participants of the program. "We are very excited about continuing our positive relationship with Girls Inc. Last year was a great experience for our team as well as the girls that participated in the program," head coach Amy Fuller said. "These types of programs benefit kids in so many ways and we are proud to be affiliated with such a great organization." During the hour long session, ETSU softball players will teach the girls pitching, fielding and also play softball games. Throughout the fall sessions they will also decorate Christmas ornaments, and continue to teach the girls softball technique and skills. The Bucs will begin their fall practice season this coming Tuesday, Sep. 7 where they will also hold open tryouts beginning at 2:00 pm.
