Knight tabbed as SoCon women's tennis athlete of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April. 5, 2005) - Sandie Knight of East Tennessee State has been named the SoCon Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 5.

Knight, a junior from Adamstown, Australia, posted a 4-0 record on the week, including league wins over Western Carolina and Chattanooga. She started her week by knocking off Marina Tasheva of Tennessee Tech, 6-4, 6-4 on March 29. The next day against Winthrop, Knight defeated Jenny Andrade, 6-1, 6-1. On April 2, Knight kept to her winning ways as she defeated Western Carolina's Trish Hanson 6-0, 6-4. In the Bucs' match against Chattanooga on April 3, Knight capped off her week with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lindsey Ballard. On the season Knight is 14-5 and 5-2 in league play at the number one singles position.

This is the second time that Knight has earned SoCon athlete of the week honors this season.
