JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 15, 2004) - East Tennessee State University cross country and track and field assistant coach Michelle Byrne announced today that Maggie Hunter (Roanoke, Va.) will join the Buccaneer squad for the 2004-05 season. Hunter is a five-year letter winner in indoor and outdoor track and a three-year letter winner in cross country. Hunter attended Cave Spring High School and was coached by Coach Mattews and Coach Maguire. She was MVP in cross country and indoor and outdoor track in 2002-03. Hunter also earned all-conference and all-region honors. Hunter transfers to ETSU from Virginia Intermont, where she was a national qualifier in NAIA cross country in 2003 as well as a national qualifier in NAIA indoor track in 2004. Bryne says, "Maggie's addition is delightful and she comes in with a year of collegiate experience which will help her. She will complement Ward and Habberstad as a frontrunner and make our team better overall."
