Women's soccer begins spring competition
ETSU will host Radford at the Civitan Soccer Complex in their second spring competition on March 23 at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 02, 2005 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 2, 2005) - The East Tennessee State's women's soccer program opened up spring competition on Saturday when they played Tusculum College in a six-on-six tournament in Greeneville, Tenn. Four playing dates remain in the spring schedule in which they will compete against teams such as Elon, Radford, UNC Charlotte and Tennessee Tech. "This spring we are focusing on our technical and mental aspects of the game. We had some mental breakdowns this fall that cost us. We want to strive to eliminate these mental breakdowns," commented Head Coach Heather Henson. "I feel that the full 11 a side games we are playing will allow us to work with different systems as well as to be creative with our personnel in these systems. The small-sided games will allow us to gain a lot of minutes for all of our ladies against outside competition. I feel that a good blend of small and full-sided games will prepare us for the fall. Next on the spring schedule is a home contest at the Civitan Soccer Complex against Radford at 7:00 p.m. on March 23.
