JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 23, 2005) -- The Pirate Club held its annual Welcome Back Bar-B-Que on Tuesday night as well over 300 ETSU athletic supporters gathered inside Memorial Center for a night of great food and fun.
With food provided by the Firehouse Restaurant and inflatable rides provided by Funville of the Tri-Cities, adults and children alike mingled with Buccaneers' coaches, players and administration to kickoff the 2005-06 season.
"I thought it was once again an excellent event," said Jo Anne Paty, ETSU Associate Athletic Director for Advancment and Executive Director of the Pirate Club. "We had a lot of participation from families. They brought their kids out and everyone really enjoyed themselves."
ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins said its obvious everyone is ready to get the season started.
"This is always a great beginning to the year," Mullins said. "There's just so much enthusiasm in our program right now. So many people throughout our community are participating in what we are doing and they want to see us succeed. It's a good time to be a Buccaneer."
The Bucs, who are entering their first season in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2005-06, will open play in both women's soccer and volleyball over the next two weeks.
