AUGUSTA, Ga. (April 1, 2006) - ETSU junior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) ended the first two rounds of the Aministaff ASU Invitational with back-to-back 73s to finish at 2-over 146 and tie for 30th on the individual leaderboard Saturday at the Champions Retreat Golf Club. As a team, the No. 9-ranked Buccaneers struggled to an 11th-place standing in the 15-team field heading into Sunday's third and final round.
Currently, Coastal Carolina leads the event by six strokes over Minnesota, with the Bucs 25 strokes off the pace at 590. Individually, USC Aiken's Scott Brown and Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson are tied atop the leaderboard at 5-under for the event.
Davies was the top finisher for the Bucs, as no other ETSU player finished higher than tied for 38th. Freshman Adam Hodkinson (Dore, England) is currently 38th, while sophomore Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) is tied for 43rd. Sophomore Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) is tied for 49th.
