, Tenn. (November 13, 2005) - Recently, the ETSU men's golf team helped raise money for the local Ronald McDonald house by selling tickets to the Magical Night of Giving at The Mall at Johnson City.

            The men's golf team set up three tables outside and around the JC Penney entrances to the mall and sold tickets from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday evening.

"It's a good way to give back to the community," said sophomore Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland), "and Ronald McDonald House is such a good charity." 

Every year, The Mall at Johnson City hosts a Magical Night of Giving, a three-hour holiday shopping event that includes savings throughout the mall, family-oriented activities, holiday entertainment, and special giveaways. ETSU athletes are heavily involved in the event, either selling tickets or signing autographs as part of the activities.

Local non-profit and charitable organizations sell tickets to the general public in the weeks leading up to the occasion and at all the mall entrances the day of the event, and they keep 100 percent of the proceeds.

            "Ronald McDonald House is one of the charities that we've adopted as ours," said head coach Fred Warren, "It's a good way for our young men to give back to the community."

            The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics takes pride in its community service activities and strives for 100 percent participation from its student-athletes, coaches and administrators throughout the year.
