Saturday, March 11, 2006

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (March 11, 2006) - Sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) enjoyed her second straight quality round and finds herself tied for 12th on the individual leaderboard thanks to an even-par 72 during second round play Saturday in the Lady Gamecock Classic at the University Club.

Auburn's Maria Martinez leads the individual leaderboard at 3-under for the tournament, currently besting teammate Nicole Hage and Tennessee's Nicole Smith by two strokes. The efforts of Martinez and Hage buoyed Auburn to a six-stroke lead on the team leaderboard, with Tennessee six strokes back at 12-over for the tournament. ETSU remains 10th for the event.

Along with Giraldo, fellow sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) and senior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) are tied for 34th, while freshman Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) and senior Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, P.R.) are 56th and 57th respectively.
