JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 7, 2005) - The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in conjunction with the Atlantic Sun Conference will host the 2005-06 men's basketball media day event Monday morning, Oct. 10 at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City.

            The event, which will feature all 11 head coaches from the A-Sun, will bring everyone involved with A-Sun men's basketball together with members of the media for a special tip-off to the season. In addition to the typical media day interviews, other events planned include a live Tip-Off Show hosted by ETSU play-by-play announcer Jay Sandos and former Auburn and ETSU coach Sonny Smith. Additionally, ETSU officials will officially announce the title sponsor for the 2006 tournament, while the Atlantic Sun will unveil the 2005-06 preseason polls, player of the year and all-conference team.

            Practices for the 2005-06 season will begin on October 15 with the regular season tipping off on November 13-14 when Lipscomb heads to Lexington, Ky., to participate in Guardians Classic opening round play with Northern Colorado, South Dakota State and Kentucky.

            The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
