Knight garners A-Sun Player of the Week award

Macon, Ga. (Feb. 7, 2006) - Senior Sandie Knight earned her first Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week award after going 3-0 in singles play over the weekend.

 

Knight knocked off MTSU's Pooja Kommireddi on Saturday, by a score of 8-5. The Adamstown, Australia native came back the next the day to win two matches in straight sets.

 

In her first set on Sunday against. Brittany Woodgett of Alabama A&M, Knight scored 24 points in a row to win the set 6-0. This is a first in her career and a first in ETSU history. She took the second set 6-0. Knight also defeated Caroline Page of Kennesaw State 6-0, 6-0.

 

ETSU will host Mercer Sunday, Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. and Tusculum College at 4 p.m.

 

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Tuesday during the 2006 women's tennis campaign.

 

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
