JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Jan. 5, 2006) - Senior B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) scored her 1,000th-career point on Thursday night, as the Lady Bucs topped North Florida, 80-59, to remain unblemished in the Atlantic Sun at 4-0, and improve to 8-3 overall.  The senior needed just a single point to reach the milestone going into tonight's game, but she didn't stop there, netting a game-high 23 points.

Banjo becomes the 14th player in program history to reach the feat, and the second in the past calendar year as former teammate Tiffani Mayes eclipsed the barrier on Jan. 22, 2005.

Jackie Beik paced the Ospreys with 22 points, including 14 in the second half.  Beik also posted a game-high nine rebounds in the loss.  Tamara Hubbard was next in the line for UNF with 18, as the Ospreys drop to 3-8 on the season, 1-3 in the A-Sun.

Banjo led three Lady Bucs in double digits with Candace Gibson (Warner Robins, Ga.) tallying 15, and Kelly Turman (Atlanta, Ga.) adding a season-high 14.  Jenny Norman (Peachtree City, Ga.) led the Bucs on the boards with a team-high seven.

With the score tied 8-8 early, the Lady Bucs mounted a seven-point run, paced by four points from Gibson, to take the 15-8 lead.  But the Ospreys would make a surge of their own, rattling off nine-straight points to gain the 17-15 advantage.  Hubbard led the Ospreys early on, posting nine points in the opening eight minutes.

The Lady Bucs would weather the storm however, ending the half with a 22-7 run, to take a commanding 37-22 lead going into the locker room.  Though UNF was able to remain closer in the second half (43-37), it was never able to recover from Lady Bucs' frame-ending run.

Banjo led all scorers in the period with 15 points, connecting on 3-of-6 from long range.  The senior would go 4-for-9 from three for the game.  Gibson and Norman each added six points in the half, while Norman led ETSU on the boards with five.

The ETSU defense would hold the Osprey offense stagnant for over 12 minutes, as UNF failed to net a field goal during the final
9:47 of the first half, and didn't score again until the 17:41 mark of the second frame.  The Ospreys' only score during the drought was a lone free throw by Jennifer Guldager with 7:00 to go in the opening period.

The Lady Bucs would pull away by as many as 24 early in the second half, extending the lead to 50-26 on a jump shot by Nichelle Akers (Sumter, S.C.).  Akers added eight for the game, as did fellow sophomore Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio).

UNF threatened to cut the lead to single digits midway through the second half, when a Kayla Sheldon bucket made it an 11-point game.  But the Lady Bucs would hold strong, allowing the Ospreys to get no closer than 12 points for the rest of the night.

ETSU was near perfect at the free-throw line for the second-straight game, posting a season-best 88.2 percent on 15-for-17 shooting.  ETSU also outshot UNF, 50.0 to 40.7.  Turnovers plagued both teams with UNF making 21 miscues to ETSU's 22.

The Lady Bucs conclude their Jacksonville swing on Saturday, when they meet Jacksonville University in Swisher Gymnasium.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
