JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 30, 2006) - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2006 Academic All-American teams Tuesday afternoon, naming Buccaneer senior infielder Josiah Glafenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) a second-team performer.

The Knoxville native has been a standout performer both academically and athletically for ETSU since transferring from Winthrop his sophomore year.  Glafenhein graduated for the ETSU School of Business with a degree in finance, maintaining a 3.89 GPA in his collegiate career.  He is currently pursuing his graduate degree at ETSU as well.

Glafenhein was in the midst of the best season of his career before a thumb injury against Kennesaw State cut his season short.  The senior was hitting a career high .354 with six doubles and 15 RBI in 29 starts at third base prior to the injury.  He also accumulated a career-best 11-game hitting streak during the season.

"This is another great honor for Josiah," said Buccaneer head baseball coach Tony Skole.  "He has been an outstanding contributor to our program both on and off the field throughout his career here, and he is thoroughly deserving of all the recognition he has received this season."

Glafenhein was also named an Academic All-District selection by CoSIDA, and last month was awarded the first ever Leadership Award at ETSU's annual athletic banquet.
