Johnson City, Tenn. (March 4, 2006) - Senior pitcher Jeremy Hall (Gray, Tenn.) pitched a complete game five-hitter, and junior Stephen Douglas (Kennesaw, Ga.) drove in three runs as the Bucs rebounded from a 14-run shellacking the day before to post a 5-3 victory over St. John's Saturday evening at Cardinal Park.

Hall struck out a season-high 10 batters, and controlled the Red Storm offense throughout the contest, improving to 3-1 on the season.

St. John's (2-4) took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when first baseman Chris Joachim scored from second base on a multiple error play.  After leading off the inning with double, Joachim dived back to second ahead of Hall's pick off attempt.  The throw went into center field and slipped past Douglas, allowing Joachim to come all the way around for the score.

After Red Storm starter Rob Delaney struck out the first five Buc batters he faced, ETSU got to him in the third, scoring three runs to take the lead for good.  Senior Matt Traylor (Knoxville, Tenn.) jump started the rally after becoming Delaney's sixth strikeout victim.  Strike three was in the dirt and went past catcher Ryan Mahoney all the way to the screen, allowing Traylor to reach on the wild pitch.  Senior Josiah Glafenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) singled to left, and junior Michael Courtney (Knoxville, Tenn.) sacrificed them to second and third.  Douglas then delivered a single to center bringing both runners home for a 2-1 lead.  Douglas later scored on senior Chuck Hargis' (Powell, Tenn.) single to left.

The Bucs extended their lead to 5-1 in the fourth with two more runs.  Douglas delivered his third RBI of the game with a single up the middle, plating Traylor, and Glafenhein scored from third on senior Shane Byrne's (Johnson City, Tenn.) to right.

Eddie Schultz cut the lead in half in the seventh with a pinch hit, two out, two-run blast two left, but Hall recovered and retired four of the next five batters he faced.  The Red Storm put runners at the first two with one out in the ninth, but Hall induced a fly out to left and a fielder's choice to end the threat and the game.

Delaney took the loss for St. John's, falling to 0-1.  He struck out 10 batters in just five innings of work, including six of the first seven he faced.

The two teams complete the series tomorrow afternoon at Cardinal Park.  First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
