Lady Bucs begin Nashville swing with Lipscomb on Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 15, 2006) - After picking up a pair of home victories this past weekend, the Lady Bucs (14-7, 10-4 A-Sun) travel to Nashville this weekend, for battles against Lipscomb and Belmont.  First up are the Lady Bisons of Lipscomb, who stand at 6-15 overall, 5-9 in the Atlantic Sun.  The tilt is set for Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. CST, in Allen Arena.

 

About the Game ...

Tonight's game will mark the second of the season series between the two Atlantic Sun Conference foes.  ETSU will be looking to remaining near to top of the conference standings, while Lipscomb will be attempting to climb the league ladder, as it currently sits in eighth-place overall.  The Lady Bucs recently picked up a pair of home wins over Jacksonville and North Florida.  Though they are on a two-game win streak, the Lady Bucs have lost their last two A-Sun road games, suffering losses at Mercer and FAU.  Lipscomb also dropped both games on its latest A-Sun road trip, tumbling at Campbell and Gardner-Webb.  The Lady Bisons have been on a roll at home as of late, winning its last three games.

 

Scouting the Lady Bisons ...

Lipscomb's Katie Beth Pate is the Lady Bisons' biggest threat, hauling in 9.0 rebounds a game.  Pate is also one of the top scorers in a balanced Lipscomb offense that features four players at 7.0 ppg or higher, including teammates Dana Carrigan, Catie Woods, and Miriam McAlister.  The Lady Bisons are currently riding a three-game home win streak, boasting in-conference wins over Jacksonville, Stetson, and Mercer.

 

The Series ...

ETSU picked up the win in the first matchup in the all time series, 74-50, in Johnson City.  B.J. Banjo led all scorers with 19  points in the win.
