JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 23, 2007) - Already currently ranked the nation's top player by Golfstat.com, ETSU senior Rhys Davies (Bridend, Wales) started his week with a number one ranking from Golfweek.  It is Davies' second such honor this season. He was also ranked number one for the week of March 19.

Joining the senior in the top 50 were Atlantic Sun Conference champion Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland), ranked 46th and junior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, N. Ireland), ranked 45th.  This week's rankings mark the first time in ETSU history that three players have simultaneously ranked in the top 50.

Head coach Fred Warren's squad, recent winners of the school's first Atlantic Sun Conference team championship, was rated the nation's 13th best team for the week as well.

Davies, a two-time, first-team All-American, earned the top spot in Golfstat's computer ranking by virtue of his record against the best players in the country, his current scoring average, and the difficulty of schedule that the ETSU men's team has faced this year. For instance, Davies is currently 17-4 against the Top 25 players in the ranking, 18-1 against the Top 26-50, and a perfect 36-0 against the Top 51-100. His adjusted scoring average of 70.98 currently ranks among the best in the country.

The ranking was just more good news for a player who has spent the last four seasons rewriting the record books for ETSU golf. Having been named to his fourth Palmer Cup squad on Thursday, Davies and his teammates also just returned from winning the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, earning his third trip to the NCAA Regionals. Davies is currently ranked No. 2 by Golfweek.

Power's ranking caps a splendid week for the freshman, as he posted a hole-in-one during second round play at the A-Sun Championship last Tuesday en route to winning medalist honors with a three-under par performance for the tournament.

Shaw also posted a top-five finish at the Atlantic Sun Championship, parlaying that performance into the first top 50 ranking of his career.
