EVANS, Ga. (March 31, 2007) - Junior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) fired a 3-under-69 to lead the ETSU men's golf team on Saturday at the Administaff ASU Invitational hosted by Augusta State at the Championships Retreat Golf Club.

After posting a 5-over-77 yesterday, Shaw moved up 41 spots into a tie for 30th by matching his second-lowest round this season. Freshman Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) still leads the ETSU golfers on the leaderboard, despite posting a 1-over-73 on Saturday. Power is currently tied for 20th with a 145 (72-73), and trails 15th-ranked Dustin Johnson (Coastal Carolina) by nine strokes. Johnson sits atop the leaderboard at 8-under, and leads North Carolina's Reed Darsie by one stroke.  The nation's top-ranked player, Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales), continued his struggles on day two after matching his highest round this season with a 76, tying him for 60th at 6-over-par.

As a team, the 13th-ranked Bucs posted a 5-over-293 for the second straight day, and will enter the final round of play tied for eighth on the leaderboard with sixth-ranked South Carolina-Aiken and Virginia Tech. The 17th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels hold a nine stroke lead over 11th-ranked Coastal Carolina, while Georgia State is 11 off the pace in third.
