TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 4, 2007) - Freshman Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) fired a 2-under-par 70 to lead the ETSU men's golf team on the first day of play Sunday at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State at the Golden Eagle Country Club.

While Power enjoyed a strong outing, the 16th-ranked Bucs struggled in the first round and ended the day tied for 11th on the team leaderboard. Mississippi State and Auburn currently lead the team competition at 2-over-par, with College of Charleston in third place at 5-over.

"We had some struggles and had to count a high score," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren. "We're still just 12 strokes out of the lead. If we can improve tomorrow we still have an opportunity for a strong finish."

Individually, N.C. State's Brad Revell is currently leading at 5-under following the first round, while UAB's Zach Sucher is in second place at 3-under. Power is three strokes back of Revell.

Other ETSU results from Sunday's action included a tie for 16th by senior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales), who fired a 1-over 73, while junior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) finished tied for 46th at 5-over.
