Monday, July 10, 2006

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 10, 2006) - Though it may be summer break, the ETSU women's golf team continues to earn accolades for its accomplishments during the 2005-06 season. This time, the Lady Bucs were honored for their efforts in the classroom.

The National Golf Coaches Association announced Monday its 2005-06 All-Scholar Team GPA Award winner, as well as the Top 25 teams in the country. While South Carolina earned the top honor with a 3.677 grade point average, the Lady Bucs finish 23rd with an overall team GPA of 3.543.

"The girls made such an effort to meet their academic goal of a 3.4 GPA," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "I am extremely proud and excited for them that they surpassed their goal with a 3.54 GPA - especially with a wide variety of majors consisting of Physical Therapy, Economics, Sports Management, Business and Public Relations."

The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the NGCA represents over 400 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
