KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 30, 2006) - Darkness was the only thing stopping a second round rally by the ETSU women's golf team Monday in the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Oak Point Golf Club.

Finishing tied for fourth after the first round, the Bucs are 15 holes into the second round and currently in second place - just six strokes back of Campbell in the team competition. Individually, freshman Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) leads the way for ETSU and is tied for sixth on the leaderboard, while juniors Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) and Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) are both tied for 8th. College of Charleston's Steffi Kirchmayr fired a first-round 69 to hold the first round lead.

"Ten of the teams in this tournament are currently ranked above us, so to be second with a chance to win tomorrow is huge," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "The ladies are really coming together and you can see their confidence growing every time we play."

Other ETSU results included Sarah Jane Sinard (White Pine, Tenn.) currently in 74th and sophomore Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) tied for 75th.

The Bucs, who have competed in five tournaments so far this season and have three Top 5 finishes, are hoping to conclude their fall slate with a strong showing this week.  ETSU fans can stay informed of the team's progress by visiting ETSUBucs.com.
