PINEY FLATS, TN (October 2, 2006) - Homeowners Joe and Angie Tittle got some extra help on the construction of their Habitat for Humanity home when the ETSU men's basketball team visited the site in Piney Flats.

The players and coaches installed siding on the 1,240 square foot house. "I feel great about helping this family," said sophomore guard Dante Williams (Romulus, Mich.). "This is a teamwork activity that involves communication, which we will need on the court to have a successful season."

With the help of volunteers, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 200,000 homes throughout the world. "I thought this would be a good project for the team," said head coach Murry Bartow. "Habitat for Humanity is a great organization, and this activity is positive for the family we are helping and positive for the team."

According to co-site supervisor Larry Blalock, Habitat for Humanity requires each of the families to earn five-hundred equity hours. Of these five-hundred hours, 110 are spent in the classroom learning the basics of owning a home. "We have been waiting two years to get this house built and the players have done a good job," said Joe Tittle.

The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics takes pride in its community service activities and strives for 100 percent participation from it student-athletes, coaches and administrators throughout the year.
