Bucs tennis cruises past Jacksonville, 7-0

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 21, 2007) - The No. 51 ETSU men's tennis team earned their fifth straight win against an Atlantic Sun conference team this season defeating Jacksonville 7-0. The Bucs improve to 15-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play, while the Dolphins fall to 9-6, 1-5.

 

The Bucs took the early 1-0 lead as they captured the doubles point. Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) cruised Victor Vaz and Jordi Ballester in the No. 2 position, 8-1, while Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) breezed by Marcos Oliveira and Vinicius Craveiro, 8-1 in the No. 3 slot. In the first position Travis Sandlant (Werribee, Australia) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) fell to Francisco Riveroll and Ernesto Ramos, 8-6.

 

Leading the Bucs in the No. 1 singles position, Olivares defeated Jordi Ballester, 6-2, 6-1, while Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro) breezed by Francisco Riveroll,  6-1, 6-2 in the second position.

 

With the 3-0 lead, Serrano defeated Victor Vaz, 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 slot, while Ahlgren overcame Vinicius Craveiro in the No. 6 position, 6-1, 6-3. Picardo and Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) both split sets in their matches. Picardo came from a set behind to defeat Marcos Oliveira, 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth position, while Insaurralde defeated Ernesto Ramos, 6-2, 6-7, 10-4 in the No. 4 slot.
