MACON, Ga. (January 30, 2007) -Following the announcement that ETSU's Lisandro Picardo had been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week on Jan. 23, he and the Buccaneers traveled to Murfreesboro, Tenn., where Picardo posted a 1-0 record in singles play. His win clinched the match for ETSU and another POTW award for himself, league official announced today.

Picardo, a Sport Management major from Mar del Plata, Argentina, played at the No. 5 spot for ETSU where he defeated Middle Tennessee State's Marc Boiron 6-4, 6-3. His match was the deciding match for ETSU who upset No. 31 Middle Tennessee State on their home courts.

With the honor, Picardo joins Warren Woolfolk (Mercer; April 4 and April 11, 2006) and Jiri Beranek (Campbell; Feb. 15 and Feb. 22) as the only student-athletes to receive back-to-back POTW awards for men's tennis.

As the team's captain, Picardo has posted a 13-8 record overall, going 10-7 during fall tournament action and is now 3-1 in dual matches.

The Atlantic Sun Player of the Week is announced every Tuesday during the 2007 tennis season.

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
