BLACKSBURG, Va. (October 7, 2006) - ETSU freshmen Whitney Trotter (Guadalajara, Mexico) and Brittany Stewart (Brentwood, Tenn.) wrapped up day two at the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational on Saturday as rainy conditions forced the cancellation of singles play.

In doubles action, Trotter and Stewart fell to the Furman duo of Bonnie Baird and Christin Thompson, 8-1. In the final round of doubles play Trotter and Stewart then fell to Rebecca Erikson and Briana Jain of James Madison after a hard fought battle, 9-7.

"The girls played better today," said head coach Steve Brooks. "They played a very good team from Furman and they were up on the team from James Madison but they're young and James Madison was just able to capitalize on their mistakes."

Action continues tomorrow with two rounds of singles. Trotter will square off against Natalie Kretzer of Virginia Tech in Flight B semifinals and Stewart will face either Jessica Nixon of Radford or Amy Sheetz of Mary Washington in the Flight C consolation semifinals.
