CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 26, 2006) - The ETSU Lady Bucs got exactly what they needed Saturday afternoon, downing Atlantic Coast Conference foe North Carolina State in four games, 28-30, 30-23, 32-30, 30-25.  ETSU finished competition at the Charlotte Classic with a 1-1 mark and garnered its first-ever win over the Wolfpack.

"Getting this win under our belt was exactly what we needed to build some confidence," said Lady Buc head coach Lindsey Devine.  "This was a total team effort today, and our composure and ball control pushed us through to the victory."

After dropping the opening game, the Lady Bucs (1-1) evened the match with their seven-point game two victory.  Trailing 18-17 in the second frame, ETSU took control with a 6-0 run, aided by four N.C. State attack errors and two service aces from senior Sarah Buhr (Stockton, Calif.).

The Lady Bucs assumed control of the match in the third game, rallying from a six-point deficit and fighting off two game points.  Trailing 22-16, Buhr delivered consecutive kills, the Wolfpack again helped the ETSU cause with two attack errors and senior Jennifer Sartor (Toronto, Ontario) added a service ace, pulling the Lady Bucs within a point at 22-21.  The two teams battled back and forth from there, with ETSU saving game points at 29-28 and 30-29, before another Buhr service ace gave the Lady Bucs their first lead of the game at 31-30.  Senior Crystal Palmer (Chico, Calif.) closed out the stanza with her third kill of the game.

ETSU never trailed in the match's final game, taking a 4-1 lead and withstanding a late Wolfpack rally before pulling away for the 30-25 match-sealing win.  Junior Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added three of her match-high 16 kills in the final game, and senior Nani Emerson (Tracy, Calif.) contributed eight of her match-high 50 assists.

The Lady Bucs return to the road Tuesday, August 29 with a 7 p.m. tilt at High Point.
