Lady Bucs square off with old SoCon rival Davidson Friday night in Memorial Center

Thursday, November 16, 2006

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2006) - The ETSU women's basketball team will be playing its first game this season in Memorial Center as old SoCon foe Davidson comes calling Friday night. The Lady Bucs are 8-4 under head coach Karen Kemp in home-openers, and they have won their last five openers in Memorial Center.

After dropping its first two games of the season on the road, the Lady Bucs will be trying to avoid its first 0-3 start since the 2003-04 season when they opened the season dropping five straight. Coming back home could be the best thing in order for the Lady Bucs, as they posted a 10-2 record at home last season and have gone 25-11 in Memorial Center since 2003.

The Lady Bucs have won the last three meetings against the Wildcats in Johnson City, but Davidson still owns a slight 13-11 series lead. The series which began in 1994 saw the Lady Bucs pull away with an 87-73 victory on Feb. 26 in Johnson City. ETSU will be looking for revenge as Davidson defeated the Lady Bucs in their last meeting as SoCon rivals, 68-56, on Feb. 5, 2005.
