HIGH POINT, N.C. (Mar. 9, 2007) - High Point starter Bubba O'Donnell tossed a five-hit shutout, and the Panther offense pounded out eight runs and 15 hits off ETSU pitching as the Bucs dropped the second game of their weekend series at High Point 8-0, Saturday afternoon at Williard Stadium.
O'Donnell struck out nine in his complete game effort, and after pitching out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning, allowed only one runner past first base.
High Point (8-10) took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Max Fulginiti scored on Robby Kuzdale's fielder's choice with no one out.Fulginiti led off the frame with a single and advanced to third with a perfectly executed hit-and-run on Alfie Wheeler's single through the right side.
The Panthers chased ETSU starter Caleb Galfenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) with four fifth inning runs, opening up a 5-0 advantage.
High Point scored three more runs on four hits in the seventh inning for the game's final margin.
Junior Anthony Russell (Waldorf, Md.) and freshman Danny Petro (Atlanta, Ga.) were responsible for the only Buccaneer hits on the day, collecting three and two, respectively.
Glafenhein absorbed his first loss of the season, falling to 5-1, while O'Donnell's dominating performance evened his season record at 2-2.
