JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (April 15, 2008) - Two rounds down and one to go.

The 45th-ranked ETSU women's golf team increased its advantage on the team leaderboard during Tuesday's second round of action in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships at the Ridges Golf and Country Club. Having led by 17 strokes after Monday's first round, the Buccaneers now lead by 28 strokes over defending champion Campbell heading into Wednesday's third and final round.

"I'm very, very proud of the girls," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton, whose team will be looking to capture the program's first-ever conference title and NCAA berth. "All spring this was indicative of how we played with everyone coming together. To break 300 twice on this course is impressive, and to do it on back-to-back days is even better. We're going to go into tomorrow with the same approach we've had the last two days, and we're not going to even think about winning the tournament until we step off the course tomorrow."

The Bucs garnered their solid team standing thanks to consistent rounds from top to bottom in their lineup. ETSU's best scores on the day came from seniors Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) and Maria Ringdahl (Farjestaden, Sweden), who both posted 1-over 73s, while sophomore Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) finished at 2-over 74. Giraldo, Ringdahl and O'Sullivan are currently second, fourth and fifth on the individual leaderboard, respectively.

Meanwhile, during Monday's first round sophomore Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) certainly made headlines with a school and A-Sun Tournament record score of 5-under-par 67 to take the early individual lead. However, Jansone ran into trouble Tuesday, finishing at 10-over 82 to lose her hold on first place to Belmont's Lorie Warren. However, even with those struggles Jansone is still tied for second on the leaderboard with Giraldo, and just two strokes back of Warren heading into the final day.

Wednesday's third and final round will begin at approximately 8 a.m. Fans unable to attend the championship can get up-to-date results and live stats by clicking on Golfstat.com, or visiting ETSUBucs.com for a complete round recap following the day's action.
