JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 13, 2008) - The ETSU softball team looks to continue its winning ways when they host Stetson in a critical conference doubleheader Monday afternoon from Metro-Kiwanis Park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

The Lady Bucs have won six of their last eight and a sweep over Stetson could go a long way in placing ETSU into next month's Atlantic Sun Tournament. ETSU - currently the fifth seed for the tournament - could jump to the third slot should they take two from the Hatters. The Softball Bucs and Campbell, who meet Thursday in Johnson City, are both sitting at 6-8 in the league; while Stetson is just above them at 7-6.

ETSU is coming off a sensational sweep over Longwood on Saturday. The Lady Bucs fought hard and rallied for a 4-3 win in game one, and hung on to a 3-2 victory in the nightcap. Sophomore Marissa Hardy (Rocklin, Calif.) earned both wins after tossing back-to-back complete games and has an astonishing 0.67 ERA (2 ER/21.0 IP) over her last three starts. While Hardy has been getting things done in the circle, fellow sophomore teammate Katy Jett (Talbott, Tenn.) has been torching the opponent's pitching staff as of late. Jett is hitting .467 (7-for-15) with a double, home run, seven RBIs in her last four games. The Talbott, Tenn. native also has driven in at least one run over her last five contests.

Sweeping Stetson will not be an easy task for the Lady Buccaneers. The Hatters enter Monday's matinee with the lowest team ERA in the conference at 1.54 and feature one of the conference's top hurlers in Amanda Lindsey. Lindsey has the league's top ERA (1.10) and is 19-11 with 216 strikeouts and only 49 walks in 209.1 IP. However, the Hatters hitting has not been as hot this season. As a team, Stetson is batting a mere .173 in conference games and .229 overall; while averaging only 2.5 runs per game in 13 league contests.
