JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 9, 2008) - The 39th-ranked ETSU men's tennis completed its fifth consecutive undefeated conference regular season and earned its third straight Atlantic Sun regular season title, defeating the USC Upstate Spartans, 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory the Bucs improve to 20-3 overall and 10-0 in conference action, while the Spartans fall to 14-6, 7-2.

The Bucs claimed the doubles point and earned a 1-0 advantage as Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) blanked Leandro Osorio and Sebastian Gonzales-Orbegoso, 8-0 in the No. 1 position while Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) and Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) defeated Javier Tori and Renzo Airaldi, 8-5 in the No. 2 slot. Competing in the third position Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) won by default over Jack Roux and Sandy Franz.

ETSU never slowed down as Enrique Olivares defeated Sandy Franz in the No. 1 position, 3-0 before Franz retired due to injury. In the second slot, Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia) dropped Renzo Airaldi, 6-4, 6-1, while Sebastian Serrano defeated Jack Roux, 7-5, 6-2 in the third position. Senior Lisandro Picardo finished the regular season undefeated, bringing his spring record to 17-0, dropping Javier Tori, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 slot. Competing in the fifth position Oscar Posada cruised past Sebastian Gonzales-Orbegoso, 6-4, 6-3 while Daniel Isaza breezed by Arnaldo Lovera, 6-2, 6-2.

"The guys really showed a lot of heart today by winning this match so decisively. USC Upstate is a very good team and our guys could have settled but they fought hard and I'm so proud of their attitude and of their effort. It's great thing they have accomplished now that we have completed a fifth straight undefeated conference season and I'm really proud of the way they played today," said head coach Yaser Zaatini.

The Bucs will be back in action on Friday, April 18 as they enter the Atlantic Sun conference tournament as the top-seed. They will take on Lipscomb in the first round. For all ETSU men's tennis action visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
