BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 15, 2008) - The No. 42 ETSU men's tennis team defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 4-1 on Saturday Morning at the Bristol Country Club. ETSU improves to 13-3 on the year while Nebraska falls to 6-9.

ETSU swept all three doubles matches to earn the 1-0 advantage. In the top position Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) cruised past David Bendheim and Tobias Schneider, 8-1, while the No. 53 duo of Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) and Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) defeated Calin Paar and Francois Van Impe, 8-3 in the No. 2 position. Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) completed the sweep as they dropped Carl Jones and Renato Melo, 8-5 in the third slot.

The Bucs then went on to win three straight singles matches to clinch the victory. In the top position No. 61 Enrique Olivares dropped David Bendheim, 6-4, 6-1 while Lisandro Picardo earned his 12th straight victory of the season defeating Hendrik Stahmer, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 4 position. Sebastian Serrano clinched the victory in the second slot as he defeated Francois Van Impe, 6-4, 7-6.

Nebraska earned its only point as Calin Paar defeated Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia) in a three set match, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

"This was a very complicated match up for us. Nebraska is very solid and very deep. They match up very well with us and I'm just glad the guys competed hard," said head coach Yaser Zaatini. "I knew that if we played hard we had a good chance to win it. We understand that a good team can beat you any given day and I'm just very enthusiastic about the way the team is playing right now."

The Bucs will be back in action on March 21 as they take on A-Sun newcomer Florida Gulf Coast in Johnson City. The match is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. Follow all ETSU men's tennis action at www.ETSUBucs.com.
