Lady Bucs blank Lipscomb, 7-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 7, 2008) - The ETSU women's tennis team blanked the Lipscomb Bisons, 7-0 on Saturday evening. The Lady Bucs improve to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in Atlantic Sun play while the Bisons fall to 0-7, 0-3.

 

In doubles action 56th-ranked Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Olya Batsula (Minsk, Belarus) dropped Claire Landry and Kara Jackson, 8-1 in the top position while Elena Volobueva (Barcelona, Spain) and Whitney Trotter (Guadalajara, Mexico) defeated Olivia Ellis and Raphaela Jann, 8-3 to claim the doubles point in the second slot. Competing in the No. 3 position Tara Byrne (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) defeated Caitlin Khouri and Britt Kuertz, 8-1.

 

In singles No. 93 Yevgeniya Stupak defeated Raphaela Jann in the top position, 6-0, 6-0, while Tara Byrne dropped Kara Jackson in the No. 2 slot, 7-5, 6-0. Competing in the third position Olya Batsula breezed by Olivia Ellis, 6-0, 6-1 as Andra Voinea cruised past Caitlin Khouri, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 position. In the No. 5 slot, Elena Volobueva defeated Claire Landry, 6-0, 6-0 and Vita Moskaliova (Minsk, Belarus) dropped Britt Kuertz, 6-0, 6-0

 

"We played very well tonight," said head coach Steve Brooks. "It's good that we have some time off this week because we need to get back on the courts to practice up for the tough match ahead against Stetson."
