ETSU women's 4x100-meter relay team sets regional qualifying mark and new school record at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. (May 10, 2008) - The ETSU track and field team made its final tune up before competing in next weekend's Atlantic Sun Championships Saturday afternoon as they made the trip to South Carolina for the Clemson Orange and Purple Classic from the Rock Norman Track and Field Complex.
Ironically, the conference championships will also be held at the same complex and the Lady Buccaneers' 4x100-meter relay team surly got acquainted with the track as they set a new school record and regional qualifying mark on Saturday. The quartet of Jenny Knox (Connelly Springs, N.C.), Nae-Nae Bailey (Statesville, N.C.), Judy Johnson (Knoxville), and Christin Zink (Herndon, Va.) finished first with a time of 45.60; eclipsing the program record of 46.95 that was set in 2006.
"The girls turned in a stellar performance and I am very proud of their efforts today," commented associate head coach Michelle Byrne. "They have been working hard all season and it's great to see it pay off in a big way."
Knox and Johnson also shined in the 100m as they finished second and fourth, respectively. Knox finished second with a time of 11.81 and Johnson was quickly behind in 11.82.
