NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 19, 2008) - Senior Jenny Norman (Peachtree City, Ga.) poured in a career-high 21 points and sophomore post Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) posted her fourth-ever double-double with a career-best 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Bucs cruised past Lipscomb, 77-55, Saturday afternoon inside Allen Arena.

The victory marks ETSU's second road win of the season, but more importantly the Lady Bucs improved to 3-1 in conference play (7-10 overall). Lipscomb dropped to 3-14, 1-3, and has now lost five of the six meetings against ETSU.

Last season the ETSU women's basketball team did not look so hot inside Allen Arena, but on Saturday the Lady Buccaneers avenged their five-point loss by receiving a total team effort in the win. Along with Norman and Belcher's career performances, senior Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman guard Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) each chipped in 10 points. In total, nine different Lady Buccaneer players reached the scoring column.

"I am very pleased with our overall effort; especially coming off a disappointing loss Wednesday night at Appalachian State," mentioned head coach Karen Kemp. "Jenny (Norman) has given us a huge lift off the bench the last four games and I hope we can carry this momentum into Monday's meeting with Belmont."

The Lady Bucs stormed out of the gates early as they scored the game's first nine points, forcing Lipscomb to call its first timeout at the 18:00 mark. Over the next five and a half minutes, ETSU would extend its lead to 17, 21-4, when Norman hit a lay-up with 12:16 remaining before the beak. During the 12-2 run, four different Lady Buccaneer players helped contribute to push the lead into double figures. ETSU saw its lead balloon to 18, 30-12, when Davis sank her second 3-pointer of the afternoon with eight minutes to go before halftime. Lipscomb would connect on back-to-back three-pointers, but the Lady Bucs would not let that faze them as they used a 10-2 scoring spurt to take their largest lead of the half, 40-20. The Lady Bisons closed the final four minutes by scoring nine of final 14 points, cutting the ETSU margin to 16, 45-29.

As a team ETSU shot 45.7 percent (16-35) from the field, compared to Lipscomb's 40.7 shooting clip (11-27). Both squads did an excellent job finding the open player; combining for 17 assists (ETSU had nine of them). The big story of the half was the Lady Bucs' defense. ETSU forced Lipscomb to turn the ball over 15 times, resulting in 23 points on the other end. Seven different Lady Buc players reached the scoring column, but Norman stole the show by adding 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the first stanza.

ETSU started the second half extending its lead to 19, 52-33, thanks to the strong play of Davis and DeVaut. Davis scored four of the first seven Lady Buccaneer points after intermission; while DeVault pitched in with her 185th career trey. The Lady Bucs would continue to add to their lead when freshman Kami Phillips (Augusta, Ga.) found Belcher open for an easy lay-up; giving ETSU a 63-38 lead with 9:57 left in the contest. The powerful play from ETSU crushed any hopes of Lipscomb making any rally as the Lady Bucs never let its margin drop below 20 for the remainder of the afternoon. ETSU took its largest lead, 73-45, when Sabrina Treakle (Richmond, Va.) nailed a three-pointer with 5:08 left on the clock. From there, the Lady Bucs cruised to the 22-point victory.

For the contest, the Lady Buccaneers went 29-for-65 (44.6 percent) from the floor, while holding Lipscomb to 19-of-57 shooting (33.3 percent). ETSU put on a clinic with its passing, totaling 18 assists on the afternoon. Sophomore Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) is usually making noise for her scoring and rebounding, but on Saturday she set a new career mark with six assists; while fellow sophomore teammate TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) dished out a career-high five. ETSU's defense forced the Lady Bisons to cough the ball up 25 times and return the Lady Bucs scored 29 points off those miscues.

ETSU wraps up its three-game road trip with an afternoon matinee at Belmont Monday. Tip is set for 1 p.m. EST inside the Curb Event Center.
